Brynn: Week 2

Brynn was more alert this week as we started to settle into a routine. Dad set up her bouncer in the co-sleeper which helped her sleep even longer stretches at a time. We had her first doctor's appointment at 2 weeks where she passed with flying colors and weighed in at an impressive 9lbs 8oz. We gave her a bath after getting the all clear that her belly button was fully healed. She loved the bath and didn't cry the entire time! Which was quite the difference compared to her first bath experience at the hospital where she screamed the entire time (just ask dad!).

Brynn: Week 1

We were discharged from the hospital Sunday afternoon with our fresh little babe. Dad strapped her in her car seat and we were off! She slept the whole rainy car ride home. The first night went well (or at least better than expected) and it was nice to sleep in our own bed. We learned that week that she did not like sleeping in her co-sleeper but slept great in her bouncer so that became her new bed! We also had a visit from the nurse to have her weighed and looked over. Her weight was stable at 8lbs 8oz and her cord was healing well. Brynn proved to be a great breastfeeder and it showed in her weight her two week follow up appointment.

Brynn: the pregnancy

I had a wonderful pregnancy and actually didn't want it to end (until I got my one and only stretch mark..then it was time for her to come out!). We heard her heartbeat at our first appointment at 11 weeks (after searching for a few agonizing minutes!!) and told our whole family that following week at Thanksgiving. Our mid pregnancy ultrasound (done on January 20th) went well as did the gender reveal party that night (minus the whole cake mix up!). A special thank you to our friend Katie for designating which cake for us to cake and being the first official person to know the sex of our baby! A combination or our wedding, honeymoon and the holidays made the pregnancy fly by. The only uncomfortable symptoms came towards the end as Brynn grew and put increasing pressure on my nerves causing me to occasionally walk a little funny :) I slept well and continued to go on long walks until the very end. I worked up until the day before I delivered as I was able to work at home once I hit 40 weeks.

Baby Brynn arrived June 15th at 10:20PM. After 34 hours of labor she arrived screaming :) She weighed in at a healthy 9 lbs and 0 oz and 22 inches. Birth story to follow!
